HALF TERM

Build a Bird Nest Box

With the nesting season not that far away, our garden birds will be starting to prepare for their busiest time of year. The main nesting season runs from March through to August, but birds are traditionally thought to have paired up by Valentine’s Day.

With natural habitats such as trees and hedgerows being lost to development some of our garden birds struggle to find a safe shelter to rear their young.

To support Nest Box Week, 14th-21st February we have National Trust Bird Box kits available to purchase at £20. Take it home for your garden or as a lovely reminder of your stay, we will place your bird box at Wildhive. Come back and see whether you have any inhabitants.

13th & 14th February

Royal Shrovetide

Considered to be one of the oldest forms of football in the world, this exciting and dramatic game is played in Ashbourne every Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday. Each year, the town’s streets, fields and streams are filled with hundreds of players and spectators following the match.
