A boutique country house hotel in Northumberland

We are delighted to share that Eshott Hall, our historic country house hotel near Morpeth, Northumberland, is now taking reservations for stays from June 2026.

A perfect Northumberland location

With a history dating back to the early 14th century as a fortified manor, Eshott Hall evolved into a beautiful Palladian-style house in the mid-17th century before being significantly enlarged in 1881.

Set in 37 acres of mature gardens and woodlands, this historic Georgian gem is perfectly positioned just 15 minutes from the Northumberland Coast AONB.

With easy access off the A1, it makes an ideal stopover en route to Scotland, the Lake District, or North Yorkshire, as well as a peaceful base for a longer Northumberland getaway.

Northumberland offers something truly special for every visitor. From the door of Eshott Hall, guests can enjoy many of the county’s best loved experiences:

Beautiful spaces throughout

Interior Designer, Matt Hulme has taken inspiration from the surrounding natural landscape, reflecting the beauty and palette of Northumberland in every detail. His approach brings the outside in – where you'll find warm, textured spaces that evoke the rolling moors and hills of the nearby National Park. Harmonious blends of greens and earthy tones mingle with soft chalky reds and pinks, whilst the coastal warmth of the region is captured through burnt ochre and rich orange hues.

Bold uses of colour and pattern celebrate the natural surroundings whilst creating a visual connection to the signature design of Callow Hall – though Eshott will have its own unique identity and personality.

Throughout the property, you'll discover repurposed antique furniture elements from the original hotel combined with bespoke, handmade pieces from UK-based artisan suppliers, giving each room an individually designed and sourced aesthetic that creates an inviting sense of comfort and familiarity.

Guests will discover a series of inviting, characterful spaces throughout the Main House, including:

  • Two elegant sitting rooms with original features
  • A cosy library snug with fireplace
  • A new Garden Room restaurant and bar with terrace overlooking the kitchen garden, serving seasonal dishes using home-grown fruit and vegetables from the garden, produce from local Northumbrian suppliers and the Best of British across the UK
