Why choose autumn?
With creative souls seeking exquisitely stylish venues that allow for personal expression and meaningful celebration, Wildhive offers the perfect canvas for your vision—a place where style, sustainability and spectacular natural beauty come together in a relaxed and homely setting that can be yours.
Autumn transforms this Victorian country house and its 35 acres of meadows, woodlands, and gardens into an unforgettable backdrop for your special day.
With September and October ranking in the top four months to get married—September alone accounting for 14% of all UK weddings—couples are embracing autumn's natural beauty. And autumn offers practical advantages—off-peak pricing for venues, suppliers and honeymoons, plus maximum guest attendance since fewer people holiday when children are in school.
Let us show you why Wildhive is the perfect setting for your autumn wedding.
A setting that celebrates the season
Exchange vows as autumn sun streams through ancient trees. The estate comes alive in autumn, offering countless moments of natural beauty—from the turning leaves in the ancient woodlands to the soft mist that settles over morning meadows.
Callow Hall provides the perfect contrast to the wild beauty outside. Elegant spaces, including the light-filled Garden Room with its floor-to-ceiling windows and the sophisticated Dovedale Room with its bespoke Melissa White wallpaper—bringing the outside in while keeping guests warm and comfortable, regardless of what the British weather brings.
Enjoy pre-wedding experiences: pampering at the Coach House, cycling the Tissington Trail, wild dining lunches in woodland, or discovering charming local Derbyshire pubs.
Autumn atmosphere & lighting
Create enchanting atmospheres with rich colour palettes—deep reds, burnt orange, bronzy rusts, jeweled jades, deep purples, and berry pinks paired with muted creams and gold. Schedule main wedding photos to capture optimal autumn lighting during golden hour in the garden, meadow and woodland settings.
As evening falls, gather guests around fire pits with blankets under twinkling festoon lighting and complete the day with a stunning firework display.
Peak District backdrop
With spectacular Peak District locations on the doorstep, capture breathtaking shots on iconic landmarks like Thorpe Cloud or Dragon Back ridge.
The short journey from Callow Hall means you can steal away for an hour of stunning photography while your guests enjoy drinks and canapés back at the house.
Seasonal dining excellence
Executive Chef David Bukowicki and Head Chef Tom Burton craft exceptional menus celebrating autumn's bounty using local and homegrown ingredients—hearty game dishes, earthy root vegetables, locally foraged mushrooms and freshly picked berries. Whether planning a traditional wedding breakfast or wishing to create something unique, the culinary team delivers sustainable, seasonal excellence to cater for all dietary requirements.
Complement your feast with English wines, local beers and gins, and crafted cocktails from The Garden Room bar extensive drinks list.
