Eve Shipley
1000 miles for 1000 smiles
Supporting children like Eve
In April 2020, Eve Shipley, a resident of Ashbourne (pictured here with her uncle Richard), was diagnosed with a Brain Tumour. After receiving surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy at the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham, in May 2021 she was declared cancer free. Tragically In September 2022 on a routine scan Eve was told that she had relapsed, resulting in heart-breaking news for any parent or child, as the treatment was to start all over again.
Eve had been receiving treatment since January 2023 and in August 2024 was due to start radiotherapy in Birmingham when again her life was turned upside down yet again discovering she had now developed AML Leukaemia. This would now mean undergoing very intensive treatment, preventing Eve going to school or spending time with friends.
Sadly on November 4th 2024, whilst at home with the people she loved by her side, Eve lost her courageous battle following her four and a half year fight.
Eve's uncle, Richard will be undertaking a challenge of walking 1000 miles starting in January and ending in October 2025. This will consist of completing every UK Ultra Challenge along with a few others to rack up the miles and reach the target!
Richard hopes to highlight the challenge faced by children, like Eve who are undergoing similar treatment and how courageously she faced this with a smile. He also hopes to raise £50k to support Brain Tumour Research, Ward E39 at the QMC and various other charities that have supported Eve.
Wildhive were delighted to help support the charity at a recent auction held at Buxton Crescent which raised almost £15,000 towards the target. If you are able to make a donation, please use the link below.
