FINE ART DRAWING

Botanical Pen & Watercolour Workshop

Kate Dawes will be returning to Wildhive Callow Hall to host this popular botanical drawing & watercolour workshop, followed by lunch in the Garden Room.

Saturday 9th May 2026

Pen & Watercolour

Join artist Kate Dawes for a relaxed pen & watercolour workshop.

The workshop will be split into two phases: first, pen drawing, then 'dry' watercolour. The session will start with Kate showing you different pen drawing styles.  She will help guide you to find a pen technique that suits you.

Once you have worked on your pen drawing, Kate will help you find the best watercolour technique to complement your pen work.

Kate will bring flowers and foliage to work from and to inspire you. We also plan to go out into a nearby part of the garden to look closely at the flowers there, to gain further inspiration and practise pen drawing techniques. By the end of the workshop, you will have created an A4 botanical artwork to take home with you.
Kate will offer individual support and guidance throughout, to help everyone develop their personal style, understand composition, colour mixing, and achieve a more confident approach to art.

Suitable for all abilities from absolute beginners to the more experienced artist, who would like to try a new technique and approach to art. Small group. All materials supplied.

"It was a fantastic experience with a wonderful group of people. Thank you so much. It is a beautiful environment with an excellent lunch."

"I just wanted to say how much we enjoyed your painting class. I had never painted flowers before like this. I've discovered a brilliant new way to relax and enjoy all the beautiful flowers in the garden."

ABOUT KATE

Art and creativity has always been a big part of Kate's life. For the last 25 years she has worked in the creative and photographic industries via Paris, Vancouver, Mallorca and London. Being lucky enough to have art directed, produced and edited for the likes of the BBC, Red Magazine, Ford and numerous catalogues it seemed the right moment that instead of just working on her own creative projects behind the scenes it was time to put them centre stage.

This is how Kate's wall art has made it out into the wide world. She has come full circle, returning to the countryside to her childhood stomping ground and has decided to be brave and showcase her work inspired by the wonders of nature and her passion for all things botanical.

This summer Kate is running workshops for RHS Bridgewater, the National Trust at Biddulph Grange, David Austin Roses and Wedgwood.
