FEBRUARY HALF TERM

Tissington Family Bike Challenge

Take part in the Tissington Family Bike Challenge with a chance to win an overnight stay at Wildhive!

What's involved?

Book a half term stay with the family and take part in the Wildhive Family Bike Challenge. Aimed at 12-18 year olds on either one of our Trail or eBikes or you are welcome to bring your own bike. We are challenging you to achieve the fastest time up the Tissington Trail and back ~ approximately a 30 mile round trip. Take part at a time of your choosing, the challenge is running throughout the Half Term break.

At the end of the week, the guest (aged 12-18 years) who has scored the quickest time will win an overnight stay for a return visit to Wildhive.

All family members are welcome to join their children. 12-16 year olds should be accompanied by an adult. We suggest stopping off for a drink or lunch at The Royal Oak which will mark the half way point. Just ensure you log your time as you depart/return to and from Wildhive and the checkpoint at The Royal Oak (where a member of staff will note your time for you).

Whilst a competitive event, this is designed to be fun and we encourage all those participating to be considerate cyclists to other trail users. Please see Ts & Cs below.

Once back, freshen up with a rainfall shower and relax those tired muscles in the sauna. Share your stories over a hearty supper and fall into oversize beds for a well deserved peaceful sleep.

READY, STEADY, GO!

The Tissington Trail

For this Wildhive bike challenge we have chosen the historic Tissington Trail - a scenic traffic-free path stretching from Ashbourne to Parsley Hay. Part of National Cycle Network Route 68 (connecting to routes 548, 54, and 549), this trail welcomes cyclists, walkers, and horse riders.

Once a bustling railway line between Buxton and Ashbourne that transported London's milk supply, the trail celebrated its 50th anniversary as a recreational route in 2021, following its purchase by the National Park in 1971.

Today's easy to moderate path offers both recreation and history. During the challenge, look out for preserved station platforms, an old signal box, and seasonal displays of wildflowers adorning the trail banks.
